CHALLENGE The design of state clinics in Ukraine receives a rather bleak diagnosis. Among the main symptoms of this diagnosis are: dullness, lack of light, and makeshift signs instead of a comprehensive navigation system. Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital realized that to have good doctors alone is not enough – it's necessary to create a visual space that heals and cares. SOLUTION Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital became the first state clinic in Ukraine to update its identity. It became a reflection of the hospital itself: simple, understandable, light, and minimalist, hand-drawn, but not by doctors, because the images are immediately readable. The navigation was simplified with a full system of icons – so that the hospital does not scare the patients away, but gives positive feelings of a familiar place. The community realized that the "walls" of the hospital can also contribute to healing – the key is to create the right atmosphere.
