How can we learn about the Holocaust when the last survivors are gone? The memory of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, one of the most tragic episodes of the Holocaust, gradually becomes a cold fact in the history books. For the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, we created the first-ever artificial intelligence voice that captures all the emotions of a Holocaust witness. With this, Stella Fidelseid, who died 20 years ago, tell her full story for the first time in her own voice with all the emotion of Holocaust survivor - pain, doubt, anger, fear, love, and hope. Based on Stella's 1997 recording provided by the USC Shoah Foundation, we developed a synthetic voice. And we used Stella's voice to tell the world for the first time her memories of the uprising, previously locked away in museum archives. The story was published on a dedicated landing page and geo-targeted to be available only in the area of the former Warsaw Ghetto. It was promoted using targeted social media ads and OOH in the ghetto area. The exhibition, which tells the full story of Stella and other civilian witnesses of the Ghetto Uprising, attracted more than 136,000 visitors and was the most popular exhibition in the history of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Stories about Warsaw Ghetto Uprising witnesses were published in about 150 articles and received more than 5 million views on social media. Our synthetic voice was praised by technology inventors ElevenLabs - "One of the most touching and captivating use cases of our technology we have seen so far. An incredibly relevant project!" And finally, Stella's granddaughter said that the generated voice "sounds exactly like her grandmother's".
