In April, the Slovenian Youth Orchestra evacuated 142 people from Ukraine to Ljubljana, Slovenia including 82 musicians aged 7 to 22. They escaped with only what they could take with them from the war. One bag, a phone, and their most precious possession - an instrument which holds all their lives and dreams. The goal of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra was and is to enable young musicians to overcome the trauma of war and to help with their knowledge and love for music to find a way towards a better future for themselves and others. Together with Unicef Slovenia, the Slovenian Youth Orchestra established a wide domestic and international donation campaign Music for the Future, culminating in a joint concert of Ukrainian and Slovenian young musicians with world-famous violinist Gidon Kremer at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana on 11 May 2022. The orchestra and Unicef invited advertising agency Luna \ TBWA to create the image of Music for the future project. The purpose of the communication campaign and concert was to collect donations, build awareness of the concert and empower those affected by the war through their talents. Donations were raised to help participating musicians from Ukraine and to UNICEF's assistance programs for children from Ukraine. The Slovenian Youth Orchestra and Unicef Slovenia wanted to help young musicians from Ukraine to realize their mission - to provide a better future for themselves and other children from Ukraine with music. Advertising agency Luna \TBWA has established all the visual materials of the project. The main visual element is a ruined wall full of gunshot holes. To these holes of shots, we have added illustrations of musical elements that evoke the feeling like they were drawn by children with chalk. With the visual, the agency wanted to communicate that even in horrible and unimaginable moments, we can find hope and faith in a better tomorrow. In this case, music has once again shown its power, transcended borders and established new ties, friendships and new opportunities for young Ukrainian musicians. It means the most to each of them that they can continue their mission to become a musician.
