Creative idea:
February-March 2022. The first shock of war, losses, despair, pain. Fotos of destroyed Irpen Bridge, the rocket hitting Kharkiv State Administration, and the bombing of Mariupol Drama Theater were seen by the whole world. We do not yet know how long Ukraine will be able to fight, whether we will be able to resist. Against this background, there is absolutely no positive news. It was clear: we all need hope, a look into the future, a positivity that will cover or at least distract from the horrors of war.We had to find a form that would fascinate people and give them confidence that what will happen next, we will stand up, we will rebuild. That’s how Recreate was born. With the help of the website and Facebook page of the project, we announced an open competition for architects, illustrators, designers and artists with the task of imagining what a restored and rebuilt Ukraine would look like after the war.
