BACKGROUND: On 24th of February 2022 russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. The aggressor destroyed many Ukrainian cities. Cultural and historical buildings are among the most damaged ones. During the two months of the war, 300 cultural heritage sites were damaged. UNESCO has confirmed the damage of 110 sites since the Russian invasion began on February 24. This figure includes 48 religious sites, 10 museums, 22 historic buildings, 11 cultural events, 13 monuments and 6 libraries. We believe that they can be restored. Easter is about the victory of life over death. It’s a holiday for those who believe. We believe that Ukraine will recover and cultural buildings will be rebuilt and renovated. CREATIVE IDEA, STRATEGY: There is a tradition in our country to paint Easter eggs with ornaments — “pysanka”. Each region has its own sacral ornament and symbols: life, growth, eternity, spirituality, creativity. We created pysanka for every Ukrainian city using authentic patterns and attracting the power of traditional symbols to the protection and future reconstruction. EXECUTION: We created pieces of NFT-art — pysankas that represent different cities and regions of Ukraine. The quantity and the price of the art depended on the level of destruction of the city. For example, Mariupol's NFT Easter egg was represented as a sole copy with the highest price as 90% of the city was destroyed. The collection is presented on the OpenSea platform and all funds from the sold crypto-art will be directed to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine RESULTS: 8 pieces of NFT art were sold worth $2400. 600 dotantions were done on the website of the Ministry of Culture. Users from 14 countries joined the project. Together with the Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture, the project was supported by dozens of media publications and influencers on social networks, and leaflets with Easter egg illustrations could be purchased at the Easter Fair in Prague.
