The “Laws of War Bootcamp” is a complex EdTech tool aimed at teaching military servicemen in laws of war or international humanitarian law (IHL). IHL is a powerful mechanism that governs the conduct of parties in armed conflicts. The principles of IHL are designed to establish certain rules for the conduct of war, protect victims of war, limit suffering and violence during war. Serious violations committed during armed conflicts are considered international criminal crimes (war crimes), and the participants in hostilities are individually responsible for them. Following the rules of war distinguishes the responsible, mindful and cautious combatants, respected armies and law-obedient states that altogether contribute to protection of civilians during the armed conflict. The “Laws of War Bootcamp” itself is the free-of-charge tool to champion IHL by increasing audiences' knowledge of and positive attitude towards it by getting them to consume educational content and resources. It is unique for Ukraine as it not only offers theoretical studies on IHL but focuses primarily on its practical implementation during the combat mission to make learning more engaging, personalized, and efficient. The “Laws of War Bootcamp” includes three educational tools of different formats: 1) IHL training platform – 2 levels, 12 modules for studying IHL 2) IHL application – 22 combat scenarios to test your knowledge in practice 3) IHL interactive simulator – 9 combat missions in a first-person simulator format The combination of these three formats allowed to create a comprehensive EdTech resource for studying IHL with educational content tailored to individual needs and paces. Each tool itself is aimed not only at forming a solid theoretical knowledge base, but primarily at developing leadership qualities, strategic thinking and responsible professional behaviour for the military and military adjacent personnel. The “Laws of War Bootcamp” was created in 2025 in the realities of the war in Ukraine in close cooperation with specialists with real combat experience: • military experts, veterans • lawyers in international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL) • instructors in international humanitarian law The marketing campaign to promote the tool was launched in August 2025 and was based on a multi-channel strategy: publications in kea online media, social networks, targeted promotional campaigns and video content. The video became one of the key tools for strengthening communication, ensuring broader practical value. Special focus was paid to Telegram channels in frontline cities, which secured bigger coverage of target audience. The results of the promo campaign for August 2025 – April 2026 are: • 2500000+ campaign reach • 30+ national online media publications • 3500000+ views of the video (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook) • 12000+ website visits Why it is a success: 1. It is a proposition that solves real need The military personnel need not theoretical norms at much, but rather clear guidelines in complex combat dilemmas. Bootcamp extends beyond formal knowledge on IHL allowing to master it in practice. 2. Complex legal norms converted into simple “military” language IHL is rendered in a clear and understandable way to keep learners motivated. 3. Multi-format and personalized learning experience Online learning, web app, simulator - everyone chooses their own pace and format for experiential learning. The offered architecture turns learning to more engaging, accessible, personalized, and efficient. 4. Communication that reaches the target audience A comprehensive marketing strategy ensured large-scale coverage and a deep understanding of the value of the product.
