Background Ukraine is one of the top grain exporters in the world. Because of russia’s shelling of port infrastructure more than 400 million people across 100 countries who rely on Ukrainian grain face daily food insecurity, leaving millions on the brink of starvation. Without swift action from world leaders, millions face a growing hunger crisis. Idea Imagine a book that speaks louder than any breaking news. The Path of Grain art book does just that for Kernel. Its vivid and emotional imagery and poetic layout immerse world leaders into Ukraine’s fields under fire, making the stakes of food security impossible to ignore. By gifting decision‑makers a tactile narrative, rather than another article or report, it builds emotional resonance and fosters authentic dialogue. The book’s credibility enabled Kernel to join political summits alongside world leaders, ensuring continued focus on Ukraine’s grain export challenges in the European Parliament and secured media coverage at Davos, Berlin, Brussels, Dubai urging policymakers to act. Design Through its format, layout, and content, we brought to life the idea of movement and transformation unfolding around Ukrainian grain. The art book has its own dynamic: - In time: a chronological structure tracing four years of unfolding events. - In space: a journey from sweeping grain fields and rolling sea waves to international conferences and political forums. - In perspective: shifting viewpoints – from camera lenses on bombed ports and grain elevators, to live webcams tracking port logistics, to front‑page media coverage and UN Security Council sessions, all woven together with reimagined illustrations by Ukrainian artists. On the cover, we deliberately highlighted the spine: its distinct color and texture seem to emerge from beneath the jacket like a seed, always finding a way and sprouting new life.
